Happy Monday! Who am I kidding. Mondays don't deserve exclamation points. At least I only have once class I suppose. Anyway, this week I have not one, not two, but THREE exams. I might just die. So after a busy and stressful weekend of studying and whatnot, I sat down last night and painted my nails. During one study break, my friends and I went to ULTA (bad bad idea), and I stocked up on base and top coats for my nails, as well as a few new polishes. I also got the NYX Wicked Dreams palette on a whim. I'll post a review of it soon! I got this nail art polish duo by Revlon. Its part of their chalkboard nails collection that came out around back to school time.

Revlon Chalkboard Nail Art Duo in Overacheiver |
I decided to go with chalkboard nails for exam week (yay themes!). So the first thing I did was apply my base coat (I use one by ULTA). Then, I applied the black polish. The polish has a matte finish to give it that "chalkboard" effect. I had to apply two to three coats to get it opaque enough. I noticed that the black polish got thicker the longer the bottle was open, so I'm a little wary about how many uses I'll get out of this polish. After letting the black base dry, I started painting my chalkboard designs with the pale pink polish on the other side. The colored side has a thin brush, which I wish was a bit thinner. However, I had good control of the brush, which is pretty amazing considering I'm a newbie to nail art. The pale pink wasn't that opaque, but I think that allowed for more of a chalkboard effect.

Doodle doodle doodle |
I decided to go with a different doodle on each nail, using polka dots, zig zags, diagonal lines, tic tac toe boards, plaid, and a star and heart on my ring fingers. I was a little scared to do my right hand (I even asked my little brother), but I think I did a pretty good idea.
I finished with a matte top coat (also by Revlon) to seal in the designs while keeping the chalkboardiness. I'm not sure if I would repurchase this product. I think its a cute idea for once in a while, but its easily replicable with any black polish and accent color, as long as you have a matte top coat available. I'd give this product 4/5 stars, just because of how little polish you get for the price (9 dollars!) and also how the black thickened up. All that set aside, this is a cute product, and I love how my nails turned out.
Thanks for reading and good luck to anyone with exams this week!
